Film Vs Digital:About Sensors & Cameras. Kodak Ilford & Fuji
Even though this is an older article, I think the video linked on the bottom of the page by Rob Hummel was quite interesting. I learned that one of the reasons why film has such broad dynamic range is because there are many layers of emulsion with different sensitivity. That’s cool! Film Vs Digital: Learn about Sensors & Cameras from 35mm film, 120 220 film, plait 4/5 and full frame to medium format film for Pro to Amatuer photographers Source:Read more
Vintage Kodak movie – How Film is Made – 1958 – YouTube
I just watched this old Kodak movie on how they made film in the 50’s and it’s really quite amazing. The quality control checks seem more than sufficient but perhaps in those days necessary. What did surprised me was the check for radioactive material. Film is announced in an other language, but subtitled in English.Read more
Travel Horror—What Happened When My Film Was X-ray Scanned 11 Times – DigitalRev
While I was waiting for my transit flight, I felt an itch to go for a totally non-scientific experiment – let the films (without the lead bag) in my carry-on baggage go through x-ray machines Source: Travel Horror—What Happened When My Film Was X-ray Scanned 11 Times – DigitalRev I’m about to head out to photograph some cool rock formations in NW New Mexico and am thinking about what cameras to bring and which films. The battle between Pictorialism vs Straight Photography or rather Ansel Adams vs William Mortensen
William Mortensen could perhaps have been one of the most talented but little known photographers in the entire history of photography. Not only did he have incredible imagination and creativity, but he also had insane technical skills. Even if you’ve been living under a rock, you would know who Ansel Adams was and be able to list off a few of his most famous photos. Both were some of Photography’s greats, but why isn’t Mortensen as well known?Read more
Movie Geometry – Shaping the Way You Think – YouTube

Ihagee Exakta VXIIa Experiences
Maybe about a year ago Matt at Glass Key Photo took a really nice looking camera off the shelf to show me something. He said he really loved all the things that designers used to build into cameras. The Ihagee Exakta he showed me had interchangeable finders for example – his had a waist level finder fitted and he marveled at how it had even a pop up magnifier. Build quality was another thing he was impressed with and he went onRead more

New rules on small drones: What you need to know – LA Times
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-drone-rules-20160829-snap-htmlstory.html I don’t actually own a drone and I have mixed feelings about getting one. Sometimes I think it would be really great to have the overhead perspective available. But it seems nearly every week I read about some person doing something selfish and reckless with their drones and I don’t want to follow the siren’s call and get seduced by that tech and do something silly or dangerous with it. But no doubt about it, they are very coolRead more
